Multiple People Shot at Howe Park Sacramento – Unauthorized Event Erupts in Gunfire





On the evening of Saturday April 18, an unlawful gathering of an estimated several hundred individuals at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area became the scene of a shooting when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots filled the air as law enforcement officers were attempting to removing people from the park.

How It Unfolded

Around 6:30 in the evening, the SCSO was notified regarding individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at the Arden-Arcade park. A second report described a potential fight and individuals running from the park.

A sheriff's helicopter was dispatched and swept the area but did not locate the reported fight.

Despite this, an estimated several hundred attendees had assembled at the location for what deputies referred to as an unsanctioned event. Law enforcement personnel set up around the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse over loudspeakers.

As officers worked to clear the park, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds were fired — sending hundreds of people running in a panic.

Shooting Victims

Four gunshot victims — one woman and three male victims, all in their 20s — were brought to area medical facilities. Two of the victims had serious injuries, one with moderate injuries, and one suffered injuries classified as minor. All four victims were stable. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire responded to the scene and triaged victims at the incident scene.

Scene Details
